Good writing matters. Having a well-written text can make all the difference: whether it’s a question of presenting the facts clearly, producing a persuasive argument, or making an excellent first impression.

I can help you to produce well-written, clearly-structured, well-targeted texts. Perhaps you’re an academic researcher writing in English as a second language, and need someone to take a critical look at your article before sending it to a journal? Maybe you’re writing a text for a website and want to ensure that it makes a real impact on the reader?

It might be that English is your first language, but you’d like someone to proofread your manuscript. Or maybe you're looking for someone who is not only able to check and copy-edit a document, but also make informed suggestions as to how to restructure and improve it.

In all of these cases, I can bring my years of expertise and training to improve your text significantly and give it that elusive 'native speaker' feel.

Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of clients to raise the level and impact of their writing. With my background in research and policy, I can offer particular insights when working on texts relating to history, international relations, social and political science and development studies.

I offer a range of services, from straightforward proofreading (catching typos and errors) to more substantive language and stylistic editing. I also research and write texts for clients, either from scratch or based on existing material. I would be pleased to discuss any of these possibilities with you.

You are welcome to contact me for a free, no-obligation quote.

I charge by the hour for editing. Some documents take more time to edit than others, depending on the level of the English, the nature of the end-goal and the complexity of the material, so it is helpful if you can send me the document that you would like me to work on, or at least an extract from it.

Other useful information includes:

  • The total word count
  • Your deadline
  • The aim/purpose of the document (e.g. web text, academic article, report etc.)

If possible, please send me your text/extract as a Word document.

All texts will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
